FPG Child Development Institute (Sharon Ritchie, PI) proposes to continue the Snapshot Data Collection project in Lansing, MI. FPG will provide Lansing School District with access to our web-based Snapshot application for iPad for collection of data during one day-long observation in each of the district’s prekindergarten through third grade classrooms. FPG will provide technical support for use of the application and creation of a dataset and specified graphs. FPG will also provide periodic staff development for school and district personnel on the use of Snapshot data and other data for school improvement. A limited license agreement will govern the use of the Snapshot by Lansing School District. FPG will train up to eight data collectors employed by Lansing School District to reliability. At the completion of data collection, Adam Holland and David Gardner will create a set of graphs showing data at the school, grade, and classroom level. They will also provide a raw dataset and an excel spreadsheet with proportion of the day spent on each code at the teacher level. Sharon Ritchie will consult with school district personnel on interpreting the graphs and will provide periodic professional development. A Lansing-based consultant will collaborate with FPG on staff development activities for the school district. The consultant will also assist school district personnel to identify training sites, manage data collection, and create professional development materials using graphs created by FPG.
